"I paint what I understand, love, and want to share with others. The life that begins when LIGHT meets FORM, and the two become one, is sacred to me. My Life's goal is simply to be the best I can be at what I love to do. These days, I find Myself painting from the HEART as well as the INTELLECT. I've never worried about style or technique, or the fads that come and go, but try to be consistent with QUALITY, with my chosen interpretations of nature and mankind. I'm a student of life and art. I have learned much, but have much to learn as I walk and sometimes run through the creative challenges before me!
Although I work in other media, transparent watercolor is my favorite. I would compare my first watercolor experience to the first time my father took me deer hunting, many years ago up above the ranch near Augusta, Montana where I was raised. We quietly climbed a mountain while observing a herd of white tailed deer off the west grazing up towards us. SUDDENLY, when a big buck appeared on the horizon I quickly raised my rifle and pumped all the shells from my lever action 300 Savage! I was so thrilled and excited that I had forgotten to aim and squeeze the trigger! I was still excited and thrilled as my dad, mumbled something about the Sun River Ditch under his breath, and watched in dismay as the deer vanished into the timber.
That
excitement that I found early on with watercolor has stuck with me over the
years and has become the medium ofr choice for the volume of my work. I
enjoy its spontaneous sparkle and flirtatious nature as the paint and water
caress the paper surface and creative process begins and ends....and begins
again."
